This semester I am teaching Art Appreciation,  Art Fundamentals, Ceramics I and III, and

Please review the following information:

 

Things to remember

1)  It is difficult to take art supplies home and work, but in most instances, possible.

2)  Art text books and studio books may be borrowed overnight but must be signed out in the appropriate room.

3)  If necessity dictates that you must be absent for an extended period please see me and I will work with you to keep you as close to your class deadlines as possible.

4)  I’m here to educate, not intimidate and that means your success is my goal!

 Art Fundamentals:

We are examining the element of line.

Weeks 1 and 2-Drawing from observation

 Week 3 Collaged Portraits

Weeks 4 and 5Gesture drawing

Week 6 Ryan Larkin film and sculpture images

Week 7 Wire Sculptures (2 figures)

Week 8 we will review all materials covered, and have a quiz on line.

Week 9 Critique sculptures and begin color study #1

Weeks 10 thru 12 Complete 2 more color projects and review line and color, critique and quiz.

Art Appreciation January 2010

Our ambition is to cover the multiple facets of art, art history and art theory in the following countries:

This class is structured seminar format and relies heavily on visual and audio materials and class discussion. It is difficult to stick to a firm calendar.

Ceramics 1

Proposed schedule:

Three pinched pots,  (one handled cup) textured ,and burnished,

Surface will be engobed, with Mishima and

Completed by September 18.

 Week of Sept 21 Glaze bowl completed Quiz and critique will follow

Slab construction box-due date for construction October 2nd.

Research and preparation for gargoyle.

Gargoyle noisemaker-complex form-due .October 23rd.

Slab Box due November 6th.

Slab box, flanged lid, sculptural with decorative handle, footed. .

Week dedicated to glazing and preparation for coil pot.

Coil vessel due November 19th.

Final project 3 complex forms, researched and theme based. Due construction December 8th.

Please remember, clay needs drying time before bisque firing. Stay on top of deadlines!!!

Open Projects and glazing.

 

Ceramics III

1) Piece for Scholarship Fund

2) Wheel throwing demonstration and 5 bowls

3) Installation piece-researched and proposal submitted. Upon approval, Piece is executed.

4Theme based mobile, relief sculpture, or 3-d sculpture

5)Final, 3 small pieces for smoke firing

All must be completed by
