Preparation for College Entrance Exams

  • DeSales ACT Review Courses: These are typically offered in the Fall and Spring of each school year. The 2012 fall class will begin November 1st and last through December 7th (just in time for the December 10th ACT). The course will take place after school starting at 3:15 and is taught by DeSales faculty. Cost is $135. The course fee will cover the cost for 14 sessions and the book, The Real ACT Prep Guide.  See your counselor for a registration form. Deadline to register is October 14th.  

 

  • DeVry University is holding complimentary ACT Prep Review sessions. Main campus review dates are October 15 and December 3. Polaris Center review dates are October 8 and November 19.  The review sessions will be held from 9am-3:30pm and will help students prepare to take the ACT. Math and science sessions will be taught by DeVry professors using official ACT review materials. Each student will receive an ACT review booklet at no charge and lunch will be provided.   • Kaplan Practice Tests: Go to www.kaptest.com to register for free practice tests and admissions seminars.

 

  • Preparing for the ACT/SAT Booklets: Describes the content of each test and include test preparation suggestions as well as a practice test. Pick up in the Guidance Office for Free!

 

 

  • ACT Online Prep: Cost is $19.95 for this interactive, internet-based program. Student will have access to practice tests with real ACT questions, practice essays for the optional ACT writing test, and a comprehensive content review for each of the ACT’s 4 required tests.   • Check out http://www.number2.com/. This is a free online service where students can take practice tests, get tailored feedback and find tutorials.

 

  • The ACT Review Program: This program offers a two day course with over 12 hours of preparation. The courses are scheduled on Sundays to eliminate conflict with students’ extracurricular activities. This program also offers individual and small group in-home tutoring if preferred. Courses are offered within a month prior to the national ACT tests. The course is taught by a Capital University professor and costs $199.   • Capital University SAT/ACT Prep Program: Dates are August 23-September 24, 2011 and classes will be held from 9:30-11:45am on Saturdays and 7-9:15pm on Tuesday evenings.
