Voice of Democracy Scholarship
Competition
·
This
scholarship is open to high school students (grades 9-12)

Students
begin by competing at the Post level. Post winners advance to the District
level. District winners compete in the State competition. The State winners
will compete for the National title.

Students
compete by writing and then recording a 3 to 5 minute audio essay expressing
their views of the 2011-12 patriotic theme “Is there
pride in serving in our military?”
·
All
state winners receive at least a $1,500 scholarship but any one of them could
win the $30,000 national scholarship.

Scholarships
valued from $1,000-$10,000 are available to recognize young people who have
demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and initiative. A minimum of 100 scholarships

accredited college in Ohio. These scholarships will be known as the Ohio
scholarships and will be awarded over a 4-year period at $750/year

opportunity is open to current freshmen, sophomores and juniors who have a
parent or relative currently belonging to the Shamrock Club or who are recommended by a
current member of the Shamrock Club

Minority Journalism Scholarship
·
This
scholarship is intended for Ohio high school seniors planning to major in print
journalism at an Ohio college or university during the 2012-13 academic year

A
minimum high school GPA of 2.5 is required

Applicants
must be African American, Asian American, Hispanic or American Indian
o
Transcript
and 2 letters of recommendation are required
o
Students
must demonstrate the ability to write clearly in an autobiography of 750 to
1,000 words describing their academic and career interests, awards,
extracurricular activities and any journalism-related activities

Columbus Italian Club Scholarship
· At least 2 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to seniors of Italian descent who wish to further their education
· Criteria include:
o Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 out of 4.0
o Must be of Italian descent
o Must be a graduating senior
o Must attend, within 9 months of the award, a college or university that offers an associate or baccalaureate degree, or technical or trade school for additional learning
· Applications are available in the Guidance office
· Completed applications must be received by the scholarship committee by March 31st (which means it should be in the mail by March 28th).

scholarship is for students who plan to pursue post-secondary training at a one

·

·
Minimum scholarship amount is $1,500—A minimum of 10
students in the Central Ohio area will be selected

recommendation form, ONE personal recommendation letter, and an essay
responding to the question “Other than your family, what about your Italian
heritage makes you most proud?”

William D. Squires Educational Foundation Scholarship
· 15 scholarships will be awarded to Ohio high school seniors in the amount of $3,000
· The award is renewable—worth a total of up to $12,000
· Based primarily on financial need
· Applicants must also be graduating in 2012, have a specific career goal, be highly motivated, have good character, and show academic promise (3.2 GPA minimum)

Scholarship

must be a member of the Franklin County Farm Bureau or have a parent or

assignment for this scholarship competition is as follows: Creatively express
your ideas and dreams about faith, hope and love, what they mean to you

Memorial Scholarship Association

The
purpose of the OFA Memorial Scholarship is to provide assistance toward forest resource
education to quality students
